Valentino: The Last Emperor

Make it your business to check out Valentino: The Last Emperor, a behind-the-scenes look at the world of haute couture through the eyes of the legendary Valentino Garavani. The film follows Valentino and his longtime partner, Giancarlo Giammetti, as they confront the closing act of a nearly 50-year career in the glamorous and competitive world of fashion. Matt Tyrnauer, producer and director, describes the film as "one explosion after the other. Valentino is very impatient. He’s a Taurus. He loves the drama. There are divo moments and there are tantrums, and a lot of them are directed at the camera. It’s sort of like a cross between a hurricane and a cyclone." Besides documenting Valentino's life and career, the film further explores the larger issues of art versus commerce, and explores the uniquely loving relationship between Valentino and Giammetti.
