Show Your True Colors

Our favorite squinty-faced Oscar winner, Renee Zellweger, is the featured covergirl for April's Color Issue of In Style. Clearly, Spring 2008 is all about indulging in the bravest, brightest pops of color you can find. I'm a firm believer that anyone, with the right panache, can pull off any color. But have you ever wondered which colors look the best on you? It's all about paying attention to your skin tone. First, take a look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. Are they green? Then your skin is considered to have a warm tone. If they're blue, you probably have a cool tone. COOL TONES - Cool-toned people look best in colors such as royal blue, ruby red, raspberry pink, plums, "gem-tones," deep green and pure black. Your skin is best accented by silver jewelry. Softer blue pastels and rose-based pinks also enhance cooler skin tones. When wearing green, choose emerald and icy greens, as well as oceanic blue greens. Pure white or a soft white looks great with the cool skin tones. Lemon yellow and sapphire will work with your hue. A hot pink will flatter your skin beautifully! WARM TONES - Warm-toned people look best in natural earth-tones with gold undertones, such as mocha brown, bronze, mustard yellow and mango orange. Ecru or off-whites will also flatter you. Warm tones look best in gold jewelry or gold frames. In terms of pastels, peach, apricot, and celery are best. Prefer reds? Then look for deep brick, dark tomato or burnt orange. Earth greens like sage, olive, moss, or jade will enhance the warmer skin tones. For work, camel, warm taupe and bright navy will work wonders!
