Out About Town: The Roots + Bilal!

Questlove, Black Thought and Mos Def So recently I've been making the rounds at a bunch of cool music industry events, courtesy of a fab new friend, Charles Anthony. The Roots had their "Rising Down" album release party at Sutra Lounge and besides being able to get up close and personal with Mos (love him), I got to take a few snaps of the party goers. He was acting hard but I just wanted to snuggle in his hair. I had to get a shot of her... ...legwarmers. Charles Anthony is a mess. And while we're on the topic of leg coverings...just wow. Not sure what was going on here. Photog Kwasi was styling! Loved the red glasses, colorful scarf and brushstroked shirt. Yes, he was serious. Big time promoter Jean Claude the Funky Pirate chose a zebra pirate hat this night. Poor thing was gracious enough to pose with my girl, the divalicious Shanel. Next stop: The relaunch of Eclectic Ride at Drom, with performances by Emily King and one of my favorite soul singers, Bilal. Fun times! How fab was she? Loved the tropical color combo and ladylike hat. Try to look past the lipbite to check out his masterful mix of patterns. Not bad. This sista was representing the Continent with earrings to match her tattoo. Too cool for school. Love it. Beautiful smile, great shift. Her nerd swag was super cute. These two know, a smile is your best accessory. Pure glamour darling. Don't hate. The hat gave her LBD an edge. These girls were feeling no pain and loved the camera. Her look drew me in...especially the interesting patch of blond in her fro. More red frames! Designer Daoud Abeid also rocked a trendy keffiyah scarf. A scarf really is the accessory of the moment. Designer and gentleman, Solomon Romeo Cortes, IX made quite an impression. Oh and Amanda Diva was in the building. Yet another keffiyah scarf spotting. The man of the hour, Bilal. So cute and wittle. The new songs were fire! Uber producer Bryan Michael Cox (r) came through. Here he is with up and coming soul/R&B artist, Peter Hadar, who's new album "Well Dressed For The Art Show" hits stores June 3rd. The night wouldn't be complete if I didn't pose with a random guy.
